Project background, problem statement
Several important events lie ahead in 2004 and 2005. The adoption of the
European Constitution, the work of Intergovernmental Conference, the procedures of its ratification and the continuing debate about the future of Europe are among them. These events are of
fundamental significance for the future of the Community and for Bulgaria as a future EU member.
A project focused on the European Constitution gives the
unique opportunity to get informed, to observe and share opinion on a contemporary event with European dimensions, on a process that is part of our immediate social, political and historical context. This information will further deepen and develop the students’ knowledge about the history and objectives of EU, the enlargement, the structure and functions of EU institutions and the fundamental values that underlie the European model of society. The young people will also gain broader understanding of their rights and responsibilities as future EU citizens.
